What or Who is the definitive source on which parts are interchangeable? eg: frame cross-members, wiring harnesses, complete cab, etc.

I'm thinking of moving my chassis to another shell (like buying a donor half-ton gasser ram) so I want to make sure everything will simply bolt on.

I don't get by this way very often so don't hate me for long delays in responses.

They all used the same frames so you should be good. you may have to use the tranny cross member n drille some new holes but otherwise the frames will swap. I'm doing an 85 crewcab conversion everything is bolting in or plugging in.

 

How about the wiring harness on the alternator? I have a line on another first gen that is going for parts and I like to avoid solder repairs when I can.
