Ok I'm new to the diesel world I just recently bought a 93 D350 dually with the 12v Cummins I have rotated the fuel pin and turned the smoke screw I was wondering if there is anything else that I should do to it to make more power, and my truck puts out a little bit of white smoke when first started but when warmed up it stops this truck used to be a farm truck and it has sat for a while could it be bad fuel or what? The smoke has started to dissipate when I turned the fuel pin and smoke screw but it's still there any help would be useful thanks

 

grind the fuel plate, change timing, bigger turbo, injectors.. there is an endless list of things, thats why 12v is the king of diesel

 

The rotary VE injection pump has no "Fuel Plate".

 

Yea I heard it doesn't have a fuel plate. Now what about the white smoke issue? Idk if it has to do with old fuel or what it dissipated a lil after I rotated the fuel pin and turned the smoke screw

 

its the fuel filter......... same problem with my 93 d350. old farm truck with old diesel. you will have to change the fuel filter and run all the old diesel out of it, then change it again once it has cycled all the crap out......... be super carefull with the little water sensor on the bottom when you change the filter. you will need it for the new filter.

i dont know about the sea foam stuff.............. i have used it on gas injectors but not diesel.......... but you might want to read up on it before you use it.

just be safe........... diesels are a whole different breed.

 

Sure will I'm a lil iffy on the sea foam never used it and figured I'd ask cu I don't want to mess anything up on the truck

 

I have used sea foam several times in my 91 cummins and the first time i used it i had to change my fuel filter which i had just changed about 2 months ealier. It seemed like it cleaned out my lines like no tomorrow. there was alot of gunt in the filter. it has run like champ since. I also run it in my boat but thats a different breed

I strongly advise against seafoam, it is made with isopropyl alcohol, not good for diesel engines, use at your own risk.
