Did you already get a HX40? THey are know for weak shafts. IMO, you would be better off making a HX35/40 hybrid and running it.

A HX35/40 upgrade is relative cheap and reliable. $300-$400 for parts and machining to get into a 60mm turbo. Another $165 for a larger turbine housing if drive pressure becomes an issue.

I've heard of up to 50psi with a HX35/40. Turbine housing size will determine drivability. A small housing will spool quicker, but will choke the engine under high boost. Even a wastegate can't handle all the drive pressure at times.

Isn't that only an issue with trucks that have a ton of fuel supply like P pump pullers

Yep, I've only heard of HX40's snapping shafts when people are running way too much fuel for the turbo and constantly bark them. Mainly trucks with the P7100. A Super HX40 has a stronger shaft and is a better turbo than a regular 40 so that's the one I'd go with.

I know a man who's had a 400rwhp 1st Gen with an HX40 (don't believe it's a Super) for years as his tow pig and he's never had an issue with the turbo.

Yea, what they said! I love building my own stuff, thats why I own my own shop. I love duals. Yes the 35/40 hybrid is great, the 40 is best though. The 35/40 is the way to go if $ is against you.
If you want all around performance, great driveability, do a dual system with the HX35 on the bottom and the 45 up top.
You'll gave great off idle pull and before the 35 runs out, the 45 has taken over.
I don't run the waste gates, I use the popoffs and have mine set right at 42. At 45 and up, ERG's are getting up there with a long hill and pulling a heavy trailer. The 45 can hit 50 PSI if you can't popoff or use the pressure.
I also throw a little cold propane in the mix there to help keep the heat down....helping burn all the fuel.
