Well the ride doesn't bother me it should still ride the same as my truck I have stacked leafs in the back and a converted leaf spring front end. I like the rough ride. But I'm just iffy about it this truck is all stock and over the summer I dumped 10k in my truck and and I have a lot of power will I be able to putt a good amount of power from that truck free and cheap upgrades?

I will also be keeping my wheels and tires will the rims fit?

OK. So what does everyone think of the trade good or bad idea and what kind of things should I look for on that truck?

It's really up to you, do you feel you'd be better off than you are now?
Is it something you have the slightest misgiving about?

Watch for roof rot above the windshield in that 1st gen, it's usually a deal killer for me.

Don't worry about the VE pump, either, they are simple to work on and also will put out modest power with the right parts and a little knowledge.

You probably won't like it over your 2nd gen, so see if the owner will let you take it for a long drive, like 20 or 30 miles.
In that time you'll get a good feel for how it performs and you may make a decision that you don't like it at that time.

Just my 2 cents, or so.

Mark.

Here's a little rhyme that will mean more and more the more geezified you get.

The Cool Factor won't pay the Chiropractor. I wanted a Dodge Diesel way-back before there was a reason to count generations. And I couldn't afford one in 1988.....or 1989...or 1990.....>>>>and then they changed body styles and I thought, "TRUCKS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RECTANGULAR, DAMMIT!" and I was thinking, "Ford You, ChryCo!", but, didn't want to have a 'Stroke. Gritted my teeth, told myself, "if I'm inside, I don't have to see the outside!" .....Long-story short, a nice ride, even by Dodge standards, is worth something. Were it me, I'd save the pennies, and add a 1st-gen to the fleet, rather than trading off the 2nd-gen to get one.

I prefure the first gen out of all the trucks and I've driven them all quite a bit 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th gens. I like the first gen cause it just feels like a real truck and you know it will take a licking and keep on ticking, it's the ak47 of trucks IMHO. But I do prefure a p pump over a ve pump and also I will never own a automatic again they are junk and for girls
