Default Oil LEAK!

My VSS was acting up (again) so I crawled under the truck to take a look and there is a thick coat of fresh oil from the bell housing to the drive shaft. Can't see where the leak is due to the amount of oil every where. I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem and what's the most likely place it's all coming from?? Any help or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!!

Could be coming from the blow-by tube hanging down near that starter. Being in that area though, could also be a rear main seal or oil pan gasket.

It's all over the tranny and transfer case mainly but I hardly ever see any oil under the truck when it's sat for any amount of time. Just a few weeks ago I drained the oil from the tranny and put new in and there wasn't near this much oil on everything.

Did you change the trans filter? Could it be leaking from the trans pan gasket? I would try cleaning it off with some good degreaser, drive it around the block a few times, and then get back underneath to see if you can get a smaller area to look at to try to narrow it down.

I didn't change the filter. That's my plans this coming weekend. The dip stick reads normal and the tranny is still full, that's what puzzles me about it. how likely is it that the tranny is leaking around the transfer case? because the t case has the most oil on it

It is possible. If you wipe it off, is it red like trans fluid, or is it motor oil?
