what are you swapping it into????

they are big, heavy, and made of cast iron and came in ford, chevy, and dodge, good luck moving one by yourself, they are not all the same, they were available with different spline counts and adapters for the various makes and models, and will take about 850 gasser horsepower, about 650 diesel horsepower, you can do anything you want to them, you can get a single speed kit, or a 4:1 low kit, or twin sticks for engaging the front and rear axles seperately between high and low, make sure it has the fixed yoke on the rear output, the slip yoke will break when bounced......ive replaced two in pulling trucks.....

My 98 (probably)....the guy wants $150 (I havent seen it, apparantely its sitting out in his yard)...so it might not be in the best condition.

Im wondering if a swap will require different driveshafts. He said its out of a Dodge application but he could be wrong.

you need a ford case.....the dodge/chevy 205 is a passenger side drop, your dodge is driver side drop, you can flip it over and it will work but i cant remember if the shift rails will be in the right spot.......talk to Advanced Adapters, Suncoast and a few other places they might have an adapter for it.......150 is about right for a 205......and yes you will have to redo your driveshafts.......

They have a pretty high low range gear (if that makes sence) and to change them to a different gear (4:1 ect) you have to get a custom case to the tune of about a $1,200... But they are tough as nails...

205's are a dime a dozon and easy to remove. $150 about average it's a good deal cuz it's already out. i have a divorced 205 if you wanna run a 2wd tranny...

i have also considered doing the same swap. 205's are cheeap any easy to come by and hold up really well one of the strongest transfers ever made for a stocker.

This is correct. You "can" get the case machined to fit the lower gears, but its at the expense of strength.

Compared to NP241s, NP205s are pretty sloppy too. They are tough, but it will more than likely have more play than your 241.
