Default Looking at buying a 1st Gen and just looking for knowledge

I am going to go look at a 92 with 265xxx miles on it. It is a 2wd auto, ext cab, long bed. What are done of the common problems I can expect to deal with and what should I be looking for when I go look at it. I would buy it as a toy, lift it, make some power, at most tow a boat. Would probably make it a 4x4 also. Thank you in advance.

Lol, yea, I know price can be an issue, this is going to be a several year long build. I will probably be willing to go 10/15k into it over the course of the build, maybe even more. I want to have it forever.

Price parts to "convert" a 2wd to 4wd. I think youll change your converting mind.
Auto or manual?
Look at drivers door hindges. They like to mess up.

It is an auto. Fort the conversion to 4x4 I was going to try and find donor vehicle, or maybe increase the budget. Or I might just leave it a 2x4. It would really start out as a blank slate project.
