what would you do frame up restore?
New to the forum and new to diesels. I have stripped my 93 w350 to the frame it had about 330000 miles and was pretty rusty. I want to pull the engine and tranny and paint the frame. Wasn't sure of what I wanted to do next. Since engine and tranny are off what should I do with them? KDP and new gaskets for the engine? What about tranny? What about brake upgrades? What would you do if you were rebuilding?:-)

Hadn't decided yet was thinking of POR 15 with gloss black. I'm going to pull the engine this weekend and take the frame to be blasted so I have to decide quick. Did you have to blast yours before painting?

Would you buy an rebuild kit to do this?

If I was that far I would just take it and have it rhino lined and then you'll never have to worry about it getting scratched and rust building up.
Ground up rebuild I would keep the 727 trans since they are bulletproof if you take care of them, Bradford 4 box flatbed with hydraulic dump, billet or diamond plate dash almost flat with custom gauges, swap the grill for a custom made one piece with open center, dual headlights side x side, Dual 6" exhaust straight piped dumping right behind both front tires, 3rd gen mirrors, swap the windshield wiper setup so I don't have to worry about plastic clips anymore... The list goes on and on but the sky is the limit.
I am waiting for my dad to retire so he can help me do a build on my first gen and when it's finished I am going to give him the truck since he is the one that gave it to me when I was 16 as my first truck. Been in the family since 93 when it was bought new.
My next truck is going to be a 3rd gen? With no motor and tranny so I can swap in a 350-400hp motor home cummins and tranny. 30-35k LB Towing machine right there! Idk If they would let me use it in sled pulling though... Yet another sport I wanna try out
