Default more charging problems..

new alternator and battery and truck still only charges at 10 volts but has 14.6 coming out of the alternator and battery is showing 14.6 volts also but in the cab voltmeter in the dash shows just over 8 volts and the lights will flicker on and off when on but battery still reads 14.6 volts? in serious confusion right now and dont know what to do? possible bad voltage regulator? its a 1993 w250 so its internal to the PCM correct?

What is the voltage with the truck not running vs running? That will tell you if the alternator is putting out properly (although 14.6v sounds correct). There may be a problem in the wiring or a connection to the cab as opposed to there being an alternator problem too.

PCM is the regulator for that year model if someone hasn't rigged it all up already. Sounds like you have a loose connection. Need to be %100 sure Alt is changing and that battery is getting the charge. Then check the gauge problem

that alternator is putting out 14.6 while running and battery when truck is off is reading over 17 volts. the truck has no rigging of external voltage regulator the truck was bone stock and jjust a daily for previous owner

also when the truck is running the speedometer bounces randomly. problem started when my brother got WD-40 in the alternator and killed it but i continued to drive it while it only put out (in cluster reading) maybe 10 volts.

Solve one problem at a time, Ohm out the wires and make sure everything is good before you replace parts. Or you are wasting your time the hard way.
