Default 93 w250 worth the effort?

I found a pretty cheap 93 w250 but I don't know much about first gens and would like some input on the truck to decide if it's worth the time/money to fix up.

It's a 4x4 extended cab long bed with 252k. Motor was replaced at 130k due to the KDP, it's replacement was supposedly a chinese 6bt copy motor with a rebuilt injection pump. Tranny is a Zbag Getrag 5 speed that was put in at 165k. The body/frame are in decent shape.

Current mods:
-POD injectors
-HX35 turbo
-3200 gov spring

Now for the problems:
-Front axel needs to be rebuilt
-Engine is leaking oil
-Supposedly over or under charges the battery
-Power windows don't work

That being said, what does everyone think about trying to turn this truck back into a DD? I am willing to put 2-3k into the truck.

Opinions are appreciated, thanks.

Im rebuilding my front axle right now, and it looks like between new brakes including calipers, rotors pads, and new wheel bearings seals etc will be around $600. It will be completely rebuilt at that point though. As for the charging problem it sounds like maybe the regulator went bad in the alternator, and a new alternator should be fairly cheap. And both power windows? Maybe a fuse? Mine is all manual, not sure what's available for power stuff. I think they all leak a little oil, but it alot is definitely a concern.

The voltage Reg is part of the ecm and not cheap... altho how to convert to external reg is in the stickie
And a chinese copy of a motor? Idk about that.
As far as the oil leak locate where it is coming from tappet cover, front cover, oil pan ect and go from there

If its regulated in the ECM it'll be about $200 to send it off and get a new one, or you alt is bad, or you have a short somewhere and its either in your harness under the hood or to your ignition(thats where mine was wires were melted).

And as far as the front axle needin rebuilt thats what km doing right now as we speak in my shop and there is a website that the guy tells you how to do it step by step

Pirate4x4.Com - Extreme Four Wheel Drive

And the website for the kingpin rebuild kit is on there i think $85 a side so $170 but thats not rotors or bearings but i think there on there along with seals and there is also a video on youtube for it just look under "Rebuilding dana 60" its under super C somthing and its a 2 part series.

And the leak ya needa know what area and the windows sounds like either a fuse or a little short somewhere but rare chance it could be both motors

And also never heard of a cheap chinese version

It all depends if you really want a good dependable truck in the end honestly man. I paid 6000 for a 92 350 4x4 5 speed with 162k miles 1 week ago. Im havin to repaint the whole frame due to rust and get a paint job on the cab. plus replace a few parts along the way.I will have 8 or 9 in it by the time im done but i dont care.

The 1st-gens are the better truck. My buddy has a '94 and wishes he'd started with a 1st-gen. Start comparing frames, front axles, transfer cases and its no contest.

I paid $4500 for my W250 2 years ago with 320,000km. Added injectors, HX35, 4" exhaust, and pyro. Still a rough looking truck, but very dependable.

i paid 3800$ for my 1993 4x4 w250 cluc cab with zero rust on the truck. interior has captains chairs and it is an le model so its all power windows locks cruise power mirrors... etc... anyways my truck was bone stock when i got it pump was never touched.. ever. i stole that truck from the p.o but point is i still had to put money into the truck when i blew the head gasket new head bolts heater core all new brakes u-joints tires and rims exhaust and much more i cant think of. there old trucks none of them that are original except a rare far and few in between truck doesnt need some kind of work and maybe some more than others but thats what makes it your OWN truck

Ive put a lot of work into my trucks and it was well worth it
I payed $6000 for my 1991 w250 164,000mi, i had to rebuild the kingpins, charge the ac along with an new evaporater and rebuilt the Getrag cause i lost 2nd gear and Also I payed $3500 for my 1992 w350 srw 187,000, and that had a broken gear case (from kdp) and a blown up a518 ( swapped in a nv4500)

As far as the power windows i fixed mine by taking the door panel of and hiting the arms with some blaster. if that doesnt work it could be a bad connection with the switch.
The axle is a little tricky but if you dont want to mess with it you can get one on craigslsit for $600 bucks out of a second gen
I fixed my oil leak with a new gearcase gasket and a front seal (came with my kdp kit)
As far as the batteries i dont know what to tell ya

I think it would be worth it if it was in the price range of $3500-$4000 but im cheap

the over charge syndrome is a bad regulator in the PCM wich can be fixed by wiring up an external regulator for 18$ or less and 45 mins of your time
