Question 53 Chevy with a 12 valve, Wiring questions

New guy here, basic run down on my project, 53 Chevy 5 window halfton, 96?ish 12 valve motor, 92 518 trans.

Question, starting to wire it up, on the intake heater, what have you guys done to bypass the computer. Is there anything out there that'll run the intake heaters for a preset time? Say, 10-12 seconds? I know I can wire these up to a push button, but i'd prefer to keep everything on the ignition switch. Someone on here mentioned using a Vw glow plug relay, but thats all that was said, no more info.

Also if anyone has any info on externally regulating the alternator, and wiring up a tach that would be appreciated too! Thanks

Scrap the intake heaters you don't need them.

I wish, I'm planning on this truck to be my daily driver and tow rig. Already planning on heading to Wyoming next Feb with the truck so I think i'll need to have them on there.
