Default Engine nock at low rpm

i have 94 cummins. 370 marine injectors and just put a ""300 hp performance p pump"" from pensacola. (WORST MISTAKE). So i put this pump on a week ago. ran perfectly fine till now. (wasnt aware at the time that my idle screw backed out) stuck my pump at 2,000 rpm. (NO NOCK) so the next day pensacola said make sure your cables aint stuck. checked my cables and started it, still running 2,000 rpm. Then i figured out myself my idle screw backout out. so i turned it in and truck idles fine now. But i have engine nock. i cannot tell from wear but its loud. it nocks realy loud until 1,500 rpm it goes away. No lose of power and no excessive smoke. any ideas? Thanks!

to be honest.. this noise is undiscribable... its almost a rattling noise. its almost sounds like a bolt is bouncing around in between my piston and the head. and we can not pinpoint high or low on motor. we all are machanically inclined and its blowing all our minds..

one thing i thought about is. could my tdc pin have worked its way into timing gear. or would that have just broke off?

time to get the trusty compression tester out. and no the timing pin is plastic it would have broke and you would have had no idea it did.

a slightly melted piston can just make a ticking sound too a knock depending on how bad it is.
