lockup
i have a 96 12 valve. when put under a load (climbing a hill or goosing the accelerator) the torque converter jumps out of lockup too soon and causes the truck to lose momentum or slows the truck down. what could be causing this problem? the tranny was rebuilt last year and a new torque converter was installed. everything was put back stock tranny wise, however engine wise the star wheel is maxed and the pump has the fuel plate removed in which im waiting on a zero plate. i have bypassed the factory tranny cooler with new lines and added an aftermarket tranny cooler in the very front of the series of radiators directly behind the grill. i dont have a tranny temp guage but after running the truck for a while the tranny fluid isnt really hot. you can run your fingers down the dip stick and not get burned. so i figured the tranny isnt getting hot. is it possible its not getting hot enough? or could someone please tell me what else i can look at to fix this problem.
