Checked as many connections as I can find, short of pulling the gauge cluster out. Spacing on the sensor to harmonic balancer is .020 as it should be. How does the sensor work? Is it a magnetic pickup in the balancer? Truck has been parked for about 3 years and I just acquired it. There are a few eletrical issues that I have already worked through, but this one has me stuck. Also, I found that with key off, there is a power draw on the fuel pump fuse on the drivers side fender fuse box. If I leave the fuse in, the batteries will be dead in about 20 hrs. Can't find any shorts in the wires. What does this fuse power? Any one have a good wiring schematic?

the crank sensor is a mag pickup so maybe sand any rust off of the balancer if not then try another sensor, idk on the fuse

Sanded the balancer clean. How do I test the sensor? I would rather not just start throwing parts at it.

Check a Haynes or Chilton manual... Everything electrical should have some sort of specification! Or maybe someone has access to Alldata

Replaced sensor and still no tach. I think that the wait to start light is also not working. Hard to know for sure as it was 80 today. Any other thoughts?

if u have power at the sensor. checked all the fuses i would pull cluster an see if it is corodid or burnt up. white powdery stuff is bad if it was sitting for along time rats could also b a issue. is there any other sign something was living in it?

No signs of critters. It was stored inside the shop. I do have power to the senor, and I do have a good ground. I had the cluster out and found small amount of corrosion on the terminals. Cleaned with eletrical contact cleaner and brushed them clean. The only thing that I have not been able to find is were the sensor goes between the crank and the dash. I don't want to cut open the wire loom if I don't have to. Still looking for a good complete wiring schematic.

Brought the truck to paint yesterday and lost the speedometer and odometer on the way. I am thinking I have a bad connection somewhere. Looks like I will be chasing a Gremlin.
