Default ..Stock rear-end gears?

Alright, Ive got a '95 3500 with stock drivetrain and all. 2X4. Best I can get on interstate, going downhill is 75. Ive heard if I change the stock gears, I can get a little more out of the top end. I was wondering what the stock ratio is, and if anyone has any suggestions on what to put in there. If it helps any, I dont do too much towing with it. But I do use it maybe 6-7 times a year to haul a 20k backhoe. I just want to be able to do highway speed without pegging the thing outt..

Your factory gears are probably 4.10 gears. 3.55s would help you out a little bit

First of all is this a stick or auto truck? Imsuspecting there is something wrong but more info would help. How many rpm at given speed would be very helpful.

My 95 3500 is the same way. It's an automatic but a 4x4.

I was looking to trading my friend my 4.10 gears for his 3.55. when I test drove it on the highway it was great! But around town whenever it kicked into overdrive it shook and bogged the truck bad. So you would have to turn O/D off in town.

I don't want to have to do that so I'm going to look into 3.73 gears.

And of course 4k gsk springs will help tremendously at highway speeds with 4.10 gears! That's another thing to think about.

I had 4:10's in mine and the best I could do stock was 80mph then 85 with 4k's before red line, I swapped to 3:55's and now I can do 115-120 before I hit red

It's a 5-speed. How much would some 3:55's or some 3:73's run me? And will the 3:55's affect towing?
