Default Strange ticking comeing from drivers side near injector pump

I have a 94 cummins and the other day I was pullin out of a street and this weird ticking noise started. It only does it right around 1000 rpms then goes away when u get on it. What could it be? Could it be a valve lift pump? Or could it be my killer Doyle pin? I just orders the kip kit the other day shoulda here tomorrow. Any feedbacwouldbe great. And has anyone experienced this before?

It's that god forsaken lift pump. Add 2 stroke oil and it will slowly fix it, or B20 will instantly fix it. It needs lube.. I imagine the ticking is every half second when you are idling.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I didn't want it to b anything major and kill the motor like piston slap or a rod knock

You just dump a quart of 2 stroke into the fuel tank. The diesel lubes the lift pump and this new ulsd doesnt do the job.

Helllll no. You get the TCW3 super tech oil from walmart and dump a quart in every time you fill up. There are people running waste motor oil in these things... 2 stroke oil is actually designed to be burnt and you use brand new stuff so theres no metal in it like the WMO guys.

Yeah it should start to become inaudible again. It can do it at random and I usually get B20 and fill it up. Biodiesel has an insane amount of lube in it so it fixes it right up. Then it might be good for a year or who knows when. You can take the lift pump apart and clean it out and put a very light coating of grease on the plunger.

You might also check your valve lash. I have never really had any valves tick on me but you never know. My lift pump does the ticking thing every now and then and adding lube to the fuel system is never a bad thing.

Probably sounds really bad if I say no but it really isn't gonna hurt it. I am not sure what does it inside the lift pump but its a really simple design that really doesn't have much to screw up. If you are worried about it you can take it apart but it isn't that fun to try and get back on since you have to push the pump hard to get the thing against the block to get a bolt in. Mine did it once where it sounded like a ball peen hammer and it's perfectly fine so I don't think your's is going to have an issue with just a faint tick. Get some oil in it and it should slowly work itself out.
