Im lookin at buying a 97 cummins 12V with 101K miles for 13000. Im kinda worried about the 12V because I havent heard alot of good things. Whats some of the worries about these engines? It is a 5 speed. I know about the KDP

 

No need to be worried about the 12 valve it's a great engine. Just fix that kdp that you mentioned. It's got the right trans too.

 

ya I probably wouldnt buy a cummins without a 5 or 6 speed! Im a stroker but ya cant beat the sound of that cummins

 

101k is super low for a 12v too.

 

its not even broken in yet with only 101k. I wish I had been introduced to the 12v earlier

 

the 12 valve is a great engine and will not do you wrong, most of the bad things you hear are from misinformed individuals, you know like the one where all dodge cummins spontaneously disassembles at exactly 150,000 miles

 

Who ever told the 12 valves are not any good must be smoking something they are the engines most people want.

 

Agreed and most of the problems you hear are probably the non powertrain problems. As far as the cummins side of things you will have little to no problems.

 

Price seems a little high to mean. But thats a NICE truck
