Like it says under my name I am a newbie to diesels and to this site. I was given a 1996 12v by my father when I got out of the service. My dad pretty much kept the truck stock other than a lift kit and guages. I have since put 5 inch stacks on it,built the "*****"s whistler" intake for it, removed the silencer ring and welded up some custom bumpers. I live here in California and I know there was a ton of useless crap put on the motor to make it "California legal." Since my truck is a 1996 and is smog exempt I am wanting to know where and what that crap is and how to remove it? Like the EGR valve and whatever else. Thanx guys for getting back to me.

 

I think on 96 it's just an egr valve, make a plate to block it off.

 

Get a non EGR intake or go aftermarket.

I got mine from a member here that went big HP and an aftermarket intake. You could try Craig's list, Junk yard? Check the aftermarket ones see if you can get one cheap
