Default benched pump wont start

My brother has a 97 just like i do. He tryed to bench his pump after he noticed all the power it made me. Well he cant get fuel to come out of the pump now. Its got good fuel going to the pump and the fuel solnoid is working. All he has done to the pump is 4k springs and a 0 plate.

what do you mean -HE- tried to bench the pump? you guys have a flow bench? have you cracked the injection lines at the injectors to bleed the air out and see if you are getting fuel there?

No we dont have a flow bench there is one at school i could mabe use. That would be the correct way to do it but in most cases if you turn them all the way they should be pretty close. And yes with the lines off the top of the pump none of them will push out fuel.

he loosend the two hold down nuts and used a puntch and hammer and beat em all toward the back of the motor. I am begining to think he broke one of the helixs inside.

how god awful hard did he beat on them. it only takes a very gental ap to rotate them and they go clockwise, which i think you discribed. so he turned the barrels and then pow, absolutly no fuel? odd. did he mess with the AFC at all. i have had the damn lever bind everything looks perfect but it inhibits the solenoid from working properly. my barrels are turned and it just raised my idle. ive dont that to several trucks around here with nothing but good results. is his rack still moving when you push the pedal? take the AFC off to see. even if one barrel is out of wack its still gonna run. is there fuel coming from the return line on the pump? loosen it and see (when you crank it over) make sure fuel is acually getting to the plungers.

ok didnt check the return and i think we are on the same page about the fuel rack. i was gunna pull the plug out of the front of the pump and see if it was moving but the afc would be easyer to get to. When i did it to my truck all it did was make it idle high. And yes he drove it into the barn messed with it then bam nothing.

I second him turning it the wrong way. If that's all he did then it just has to be it. When you turn them all the way the wrong way it will put the spill port in line with the relief when the shutoff engages. I bet it would start if he floored it. It would put it past the relief and fire up. Of course it would just die when he let off.
