so when i took my truck to a shop to replace a gasket the shop either broke the rpm gauge or didnt hook it up. i dont know what to look for or where it goes any help me out

 

Is the truck charging? Your tachometer is fed by data provided by the crank position sensor which could have resulted from something like a increased air gap between the balancer and sensor or possibly the wire came unplugged at the front of the head.

from the intake down was taken off. my batteries mysteriously died a few days after getting the gasket replaced

 

What gasket was replaced. Sounds like the ckp sensor is unplugged, bad or not gapped correctly.

i did go back to the shop, but they said since i already left the shop that it wasnt their problem. i forget what its called its under by the throttle control
