Default confused tranny slipping or torque converter failure???

I recently noticed a tranny / converter? issue and im not sure where to go from here. .. the 94 12v 2wd is still bone stock when im driving at any speed and take my foot off the pedal and depress it again the rpms jump up to 2000+ then its like the tranny catches on that i want to go again and the rpms drop as the tranny re-engadges. no problems if i take off slowly but if i try to take off from a stop normally i get what i can only describe as slippage then too. i know the bands need adjusted its overdue ( not sure its ever been done in 253000 miles) could that be the cause of these symptoms? untill i figure out whats causing this i dont want to put any extras on the truck as its my daily driver so all repairs must be made immediately and im on a budget. im holdin onto my money in case i have to spend it on repairs. thank u in advance for any and all helpful advice.

heres the skinny

is it doing this in all gear ranges, this would point towards a tired TC

if it is only in a selective gear range than it could be bands or even clutches
if this is the case then check your pan for a spikey or excessively thick covered magnet
burnt smelling fluid etc
if the tc is stock at 250k my guess it is tired
