New 12v Owner
Hey y'all, new to the forum, and new to the Cummins world, and diesels in general. I bought a 96 ram 2500 12v 4x4 with 330 on the body, but the motor was rebuilt at 317k along with the front end. trucks got a fass lift pump, and a new p-pump ip, so I would expect that would be the p7100 from the little I know. I have a couple questions, bear with me on this one. Is there any other p-pump then the p7100 that someone would put on a truck during a rebuilt or how can you tell which pump you've got. Also, I'm looking to get a little more power out of this truck. I ordered my pyro, should be here later in the week. How involved is moving the stock fuel plate all the way forward, and how much power will that add? Is it something a newbie can do? Im pretty good with figuring things out and Ive always serviced my own stuff, just never had a cummins. Ive done some minor work on my old ford 7.3 idi, but im glad that thing is gonna be gone. So is it easy enough for a newbie to figure out? Thanks in advance i appretiate all responses

Thats the pump (p7100)to have, easy to turn up, plenty of article with pics. Make sure you change the fass filter some time they get forgotton on the frame rail. Might want to add a pressure gauge on fuel line after fass. Low pressure (flow)into injection pump kills it. If i had installed a pressure gauge i might have been able to save IP. The 24 valve IP is expensive and if i recall the P7100 can be also.

thanks everyone, dont think im "special" or stupid just yet, the threads i found didnt have any pictures Anyway, i was looking to see if this pump has ever been turned up. Does the break off screw have a tiny little hole in the center? it almost looks like a real small allen, but its definately a little hole in the top, make me thing the afc has been off before and this is suppose to be a brand new pump on this truck. werent they just a round topped bolt with no hole?

Alright thanks man. I've just been going through this truck trying to find out as much as I can about it. I wouldve asked the previous owner what he did to it after the rebuilt...but hes dead so that really isn't a possibility. Is there any easy way to find out if I have bigger injectors already in the truck or do I have to pull em to find out ?
