Need Fuel
I have a 96 that im not getting any fuel to the engine with. checked it by cracking the line over the injector and then over the pump. was told its either the solenoid, a fuse, or the pump inside the tank. i was wondering how you would check to see if the solenoid is working or not? any help is much appreciated

The reason you have to bump the engine over is because the solenoid is a two stage setup, stage 1 activates the strong magnetic field to open the fuel valve, stage 1 is only powered while in "cranking" or "starting" position, stage 2 is a lower field designed to hold the valve open while in "run" mode. If you don't crank first, and just turn on the key, stage 1 is not used therefore the solenoid is not opened for stage 2 to hold it.
To test stage 1&2: Crank engine over, without shutting off ignition, check that solenoid plunger is up
To test stage 2 only: Turn on ignition, without cranking, lift solenoid plunger by hand, if it stays up stage 2 is working
The solenoid is located on back of pump on the side away from engine, find the 3 wire plug above the rear of pump follow it to the solenoid
To test stage 1&2: Crank engine over, without shutting off ignition, check that solenoid plunger is up
To test stage 2 only: Turn on ignition, without cranking, lift solenoid plunger by hand, if it stays up stage 2 is working

it is easily visable. prolly 1.5 to 2 inch around and about 2 inches long, when viewed from the top. it has a rod coming out of the bottom of it which is connected to the linkage they are talking about. you pull this linkage up (or check that it is up). there is a little blue wire that goes to the driver side battery + wire. it corrodes often. if it is you will have a no start problem.
