Default Stock Transmissions

How much horse over stock can an automatic transmission take before you start running into problems with these dodges?

BAHF straightpipe and boost elbow. do those and youll be shredding the trans apart. well maybe not shredding, if youll slide the plate or mess with the star wheel youll kill it for sure though. i know i did.

there tougher than that, alot depends on the driver and the maint. he does. a temp gauge helps solve alot of problems too. synthetic trans fluid helps too.

Default trans temp

run the truck with trans temp gauge installed, temp should be close to water temp in engine. any temps over the normal trans temp is working trans more than normal.

dont actually have one yet, hopefulling picking up a 96 three quarter ton on monday. I just kinda wanted to know more about these cause of that 96 and i also helped a buddy remove his fuel plate and wanted to know if we were running his tranny into problems by doing that. how do you determine what transmission you have?

main problem with them is the Tc has a poor friction surface so it cant hold any torque and on top of that the stock VB doesn't create enough hydrolic pressure to keep clutched pressed together. so if you upgrade those to things. your tranny in a stock to mild 350-400HP will last a long time if you drive it right. these autos arn't bad trannys they just need a little more line pressure.
