Default hx 40 turbo

we have a cottonpicker that burned up this year and it has a cummins motor in it with a hx 40 turbo my cousin said it will bolt right up to my stock manifold but is this a good turbo? and whats the max boost psi?

I run and upgraded hx40. Your stock down pipe will have to be changed over to an hx40 style. Stock 40s I've heard have problems with the shaft breaking under hard acceleration when you let of the accelerator real quick. Max 45-50 psi of boost.

The HX35 has a 3" outlet, I believe you will need a 4" outlet down pipe, they are around $130.

The HX40 will push a little more boost than a 35 but with more volume. Sounds like the price is right to try it.

yea the turbo is free but the cottonpickers exhaust pipe is a 3'' pipe and the hp of the motor is 260 and i have a #5 fuel plate in it with 4000 rpm springs and my truck is rated at 255 so will i need to make and adjust ments to the waste gate?

Plug it and watch the psi needle.

What cummins motor,5.9 or 8.3? It could be a t4 inlet if the bigger motor.
