Default Growling noise while turning.

My truck has developed a growling/loose sound in the front end while turning. It doesn't matter which direction I turn. It's more noticeable at slower speeds. I just had a front end alignment done and was told everything looked good. I've spent half an hour poking around under there and can't find anything. Any ideas? Thanks!

New ujoints. I'll check the bearings out. Don't you have to replace the whole hub if that's the case?

Yes you do... Just jack the truck high enough to get a pry or cheater bar under the tire and pull up. If it's bad you'll feel and see it.

Ok thanks guys. Sounds like that's the most likely culprit. I'll check them for play on my next day off. Do you all think I should avoid driving it anymore until I fix it? I have another rig I can use if I have to so it's not the end of the world. I hear these unit bearings can be spendy. Who's the best place to buy/order replacements from? I want to be cost conscious, but not to the point of buying junk. Thanks!

Well guys, I dunno what to think now. I checked both front hub bearings and they are each tight as a drum, no play at all. So I took it out for a spin for the first time in 4 days, and couldn't get it to make any noise. No clue what that was all about. I guess I'll just drive it and see if it comes back.

LOL I know right! I have the characteristic "shock clunk" that I need to address also, but this noise was different. I'll just drive it and be happy util it returns .
