Default Odd shift points???

My truck is completely bone stock. The previous owner put a stock (ugh) replacement trans in it about 20k ago. It shifts firm, and doesn't feel like it's slipping any, but when you reach about 40mph, you have to back out of the throttle almost all the way before it will shift to the next gear. Once it finally shifts, the shift feels firm and normal. Any ideas??? Thanks!

Throttle Position Sensor. It's a little black electrical box a couple of inches square at the very front of your throttle linkage. Only took me a couple of min to remove and change.

Wish I would've noticed this thread earlier. Before you change it out, you might be able to save some money by adjusting it. Read this:

Dodge diesel maintenance tips

About 1/3 of the way down the page.

Or you can look into one of these:

1st/2nd Generation Dodge TPS Delete Kit *91.5-98 12v* [DNR] - $39.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

I'm planning on doing it when my TPS goes south.
