fuel gauge doesn't work, not sending unit
My fuel gauge stays on E, no matter what the level of fuel in the tank is. We've already proven that the fuel sending unit is not the problem-here's what we did to do this...
Dropped tank, and pulled the sending unit. moved the float up and down, while reading the pins for a change in resistance. Pins read a resistance difference when the float was in various positions. Hooked up wiring, disconnected the Airdog, so it wouldn't pump fuel, and turned the truck on. Held the float up, and checked the gauge. No reading.
Anyone have a wiring diagram of what wires run to the fuel gauge, or whether there's supposed to be a ground anywhere, that should cause the gauge to read? The sending unit was good, until a shop installed the Airdog, and since then, it hasn't worked. It's been so long though, since they installed it, that they probably have no idea of what wires they cut or might have moved to make this stop working. I was hoping if I could figure out what wires went to where, I could just run new wires, and splice into the old ones to see if that solved the problem. Thanks!
BTW, it's on a 96 12v.

Edit...I got schematics now, I just need to know for sure, where the lowfuel light is on a 96. Anyone? I think its the little circle next to the gauge, but I'm not 100% positive. Can anyone confirm?

i had the same problem it was the float they are notoriouse for going bad something about the resistor loosing contact ive heard of people fixing them but... local dealer should have one i paid 60 bux i belive.. after you pull the sending unit all you do is unbolt and replace then drop it back in.. and it should work fine!!
