Default Water and crap in the cowl?

Has anyone ever had problems with water or just leaves and crap coming in the cowl? If so, could it be possible for any water or the crap to get in the heater box? My 1st gen had this problem, I thought the HC was going bad, then when I tore it down(my 1st gen), I just had a bunch of leaves and crap in there jamming it up, so it got a new HC and Evap. I'm wondering if my 95 could be having similar issues. I've been thinking my HC in my 2nd gen was going out cause I had no heat. When I took the blower motor out, a bunch of grayish/black crap fell out. I wasn't getting any speed out of my blower motor, I rigged up a piece of 5/8 heater hose into my shop vac and sucked all the crap in/on my Evap, bye the blower motor. It works good now, and I've never lost any coolant, or smelled anything, could the crap been my problem? Or, maybe it's gona be a pain in my a@@.

I know they make filters for the 2nd gens that would help with that stuff. Not sure if they do for a 1st gen tho. May want to check into it.
