Default do our trucks need oil in fuel?

Diesel fuel lubes the p7100 injector pump. Does the term "upper cylinder lubrication" not mean anything? The lower portion of the ip is in fact lubed by oil, but the plunger and barrels are only lubricated by the diesel that spills into the barrels. Why else would low fuel pressure cause an injector pump to go out? The injector pump is like a mini cummins engine itself, take the lubrication away from it and you're going to seize a piston (plunger) A bottle of two stroke oil is cheap assurance and I'm all for it

We run a 50/50 mix of diesel and ANY kind of used oil that we can find from our shop or neighboring shops. Yes we do filter the oil before putting it into our tanks through two 5 micron water filters, then it gets filtered with the fuel filter in the truck. We have ran this through 12v's 24v's and common rails for almost 4 years and no problems yet. We do not change the ratio in the winter either. Actually oil will not freeze but yes it gets rather thick, but no problems running that ratio. We have even ran a 97 12v on an 80/20 mixture.(80-oil and 20-diesel.) It saves a lot on fuel costs. Like after you service your tuck, filter the oil and dump it in the tank. BE CAREFUL ON GETTING USED OIL FROM SHOPS AS WATER AND ANTIFREEZE ARE USUALLY FOUND HIDDEN IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL!!!!! Any other method of adding oil is great and WILL help on extending the life of your diesel. One more thing, after running a mixture such as 50/50 and you switch back to regular 100% green diesel because you are on vacation or something, you will notice more motor knock due to less lubrication of the cylinders so don't think its your motor!! Good luck!
