Default NV4500 vs 47RE vs G56 vs NV5600

confused on that tranny to get, i like stick shifts, but im looking for reliability, i dont tow heavy, maybe 7-8k

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

alright went looking around and i think i might go with the NV4500, i plan on dd with it, sometimes go 4 wheeling, pull only a little amount of weight and the power i plan for the truck is maybe 500hp. is my head on right or should i reconsider. ill get the bigger input shaft and the 5th gear nut fix.

I take it your swapping an out an auto? And fill out your sig. so we know what ya got. I swapped my 47RH out for a NV4500, the swap is pretty easy, and with the bigger input shaft and 5th nut fix its a great reliable tranny. The shop I got my parts and tranny from said the NV5600 might be able to withstand more torque, but the syncros are not as robust as those found in the NV4500, so it wont take as much abuse. Best of luck!

i was looking for a nv4500, but for the 5th gear i read the only way to perm fix the problem is get the new mainshaft, but ive seen the new nut im sure i can install that but i would most likly need a shop to put in the mainshaft right?

nv4500 is what you want. The 5600 would be an ideal towing tranny IMHO but for light towing and hotrodding the 4500 is a great tranny, or a built auto. And if you wanna get rid of that auto let me know

6th gear nv5600 and 5th in nv4500 are same gear ratio?

Best bet is the 4500 if your limited on cash. My 01 with 47re held 435hp pulling anything I hooked to it but I spent 5g.

Wrong, though it is probably the easiest/cheapest/most effective temporary fix it is not a permanant fix. The problem isnt the nut its the spline, you can buy better splines that dont have this malfunction but its more expensive and more involved.
