do i have to put any kind of additive in the gear oil in my rearend to keep it from locking up?

Depends if you have a limited slip diff or not. If you do an additive is needed to keep the clutches functioning correctly. Some gear oils have the additive already in them so nothing else is needed.

i do have a limited slip diff what kind of additive do i need to look for?

I believe its called posi-trac additive or something like that. Most parts stores will have it!
