will a diesel run better with cold or hot air comin in through turbo?

The cooler the air the more dense it is which gives you more usable air. So the colder the better.

I had an argument with somebody on here last year who said it didn't matter because the turbo heats it up anyway.

I believe he probably still thinks it doesn't matter.
