ive got the star wheel turned up, it was turned all the way up when i got it, (not sure how to fine tune it)

will do, im going to check for leaks today.

I'm curious as to where you bought it, if you got your wastegate signal lines hooked up properly, and if your charge air lines are all tight.

dieselpower91 07-29-2011 10:34 AM

i went through holset to get it, they forwarded me to one of theyre reps im guessing and got it through them.

but im checking for leaks later.

does 1400 degreees on these motors have a bad effect? whats safe?

I'll leave it to some of the other guys here for confirmation, but it seems like 1200* is the ceiling for safety. Assuming the turbo has consistent boost behavior from when the truck has just been started and is cold through when it has warmed up I think you'll find a wastegate signal line issue. I'm not sure what year your truck is but it'll have either a WH1C or an HX35 and both of these are simple to diagnose. Apply ~30 psi of air to the wastegate and see how much travel you get. You should get 0.5 to 1.25 mm travel from the wastegate actuator rod. If it's in spec start checking the line that supplies the actuator.

go buy a good turbo don't waste your time with the stock one once you do mods the stock turbo is know good egts go nuts. as for 1400 i could hit 1600 very easy with my mods.

the safety zone is 1200 you shouldnt go past that or stay that high for to long
