Default Need help on a truck I'm working on.

Here's the deal. I'm working on a truck that somehow lost 10qts of oil going down the highway and was driven until the oil light came on. From what I'm told it won't go above 2200rpm going down the highway now and it lacks power. I've only driven it around the block and it sounds like a vp 24 valve, doesn't have much power and smokes pretty good out the breather. It does have good oil psi but it just doesn't sound or drive right. How messed up do you guys think this truck is? Its not mine btw.

How bad its messed up depends on where the hell 10 qts of oil went while driving down the road Lol. How did it run before it lost the oil?

It ran pretty good before. It has the plate and afc full foward, bhaf, straight pipe. All the oil went out the back of the turbo. The exhaust is chopped behind the cab and everything from it back is rust proofed now .

Sounds like the oil seal blew out in the turbo. You've ran it since this happened and no oil leaked out?

I ran drove it maybe a mile and let it sit and idle for a little while and didn't see any leaks. I think it is the turbo. It has an H1c with a 21cm housing on it that looks like its seen better days. The owner told me he went 175 miles after running it low on oil and it only used a quart. It seems to me it lost all of its oil over a long period of time.

The turbo bearings might have been cooked from running low on oil. What kind of boost does the truck have now? Burnt bearings will cause the turbo to not spool right and it will always be lagging. Check the shaft for play and the compressor fins for damage. Btw, what year truck is it?

The truck is a '94. I pulled the turbo off and there is no oil in the manifold. The turbo has no play but its dumping oil out the exhaust side. It did have some lag but I think it was due to the large housing. I did notice a bunch of gray smoke when accelerating but I think its because of the oil.
