Default truck won't start

Out of nowhere the truck decided to shut down while it was in idle. It was hard to get it started back but with some starting fluid it did. It sounds like there is air on the lines or that the truck is starving fuel. After starting it did run well for about 100 miles on the highway non stop. then I stopped to get fuel and NOW IT WONT START.
We checked and there is fuel going to the fuel filter and from the filter to the pump. Now it won't start even with starting fluid. Any ideas? We are literaly broke down at a truck stop.....what can we do? Thanks

I learned about the shut down solenoid and opened manually and started right away.
How do I check to make sure that is the solenoid it self and no a relay or fuse wire, etc?
Thanks for the input

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

good morning and thanks to everyone that is helping. I kept the solenoid open manually and the truck is still running.
1) Can that hurts anything?
2) also the truck didn't want to start this morning... i tried 3 times....but it fired up at the end when i kept the accelerator all the way down ...but as soon as it was released it turned off. After about 1 minute of holding the pedal the truck keeps running.
3) In Idle it sounds lie it will turn off.
Thanks again

what rpm is it idling at? no it doesn't hurt to hold it manually....when you started it this morning did you have the solenoid held open?

RPM are a little less than 500 may be between 350 to 400.
Yes this morning the solenoid was held manually to get it started.
I just stopped to get some diesel and just for the sake of trying I decided o don't held the solenoid manually and its fired up and turned of few times... now what?

well im going to say get a new solenoid or try to take yours apart and clean it and hope for the best....the running problem is just caused by the low idle...may need to bump it up a bit...should be 750
