diesel is expensive no doubt about that and unless you are going to use your diesel there really is no point in payin extra, more for fuel, more for oil, more for parts, and more for tires ect. I dont know about now but when i was that age it was about goin fast real fast. And with that said its just easier and cheaper to make an old car go fast than a big heavy truck. but on the other side an older car or light pickup aren't going to get "good" mileage either, but they are alot more simple to work on yourself. Don't get me wrong i started with a diesel and i still have one to this day and i wont ever give it up. If you do happen to find a good cummins that has been well taken care of and if you take good care of it then it wont let you down for many many years. Its just a decision YOU have to make and learn from whether a good or a bad one. good luck

Find your priorities. Run around alot = Cost of diesel vs gas , Maintenance = 11qts of oil vs 6qts ect. Go Gas. Something to last, work in, play in, & tinker with GO CUMMINS!!!
Also if you think you someday might want a gas burner, dont buy a Cummins, you'll never go back!
