Dont think they are. His sig list a ford but his problem is with a dodge.

If you give the truck a little bit of fuel does the truck crank then or does it continue to spin over for a few seconds.

as far as i know if your fuel shut off goes bad it wont start at all unless you pop the hood. you are loosing prime if it is cranking over like normal and then starts but if its slower cranking than normal you have electrical issues. my philosophy is if one part of the fuel system is starting to fail or a part of any system is starting to fail replace it all to keep from being on the side of the road. tow bills are more expensive than replacing everything once and knowing its all good. reliability is key and if you are starting to have problems with one thing the rest will follow so nip it in the bud.

my fuel shut off was acting exactly like this a while back... i just took it off and left it in the ON position... until i can afford a new one

i just shut down my truck by putting it in 3rd and letting off the clutch

i believe what your referring to is the fuel shut off solenoid. which is a fairly common thing. as for surging in od hmm there was just a post that referred to this problem. i'll look for it now

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

is it an nv4500?
