I bought a truck that did not run. (ran out of fuel) Got it started ran fine but needed transmission lines (he looped the two ends to make it completed bi-passed cooler) He did not pull any trailers with it since he did that. I replaced the tranny lines and its started shifting badly but did shift to overdrive. So I changed the transmission fluid and filter figuring there was crap in the cooler that clogged the filter. After that, it ran fine for a day and then it just stopped working. (No overdrive)

Symptoms include:
Hard start cold, white smoke then clear (think it needs fuel lines)
Cruise control acts like accel button is held down
Tranny fluid was foaming at freeway speeds (65-70mph got off within 2 miles never did freeway speeds since)
Lock up does work
Stalls when cold into gear but then fine after warm (does not stall if let truck warm up good-Live in WI)

Can it be?
Torque converter
TPS
PCM
Temp Sensor
or something else?

Where should I start?

 

sorry cant help with the trany problems but i had the same problem with my engine i set my timeing and it made a world of diffenece with the way is starts and run hope someone eles will be more help with the trany problems good luck

 

hey man it has to be the torque converter and proble the over drive button went out to i had the same proble with mt 2002 dodge cummins and also check the boost boots were it hooks to the inter cooler
