if you have to adjust it than you might as well be ready to buy a new one. the adjustment is a temp fix and the box is soon to fail.

for a steering box PSC makes an awesome one

steering shafts
borgeson still makes a damn good shaft.
for slightly more money Flaming river makes a good shaft with greasable joints.

This sound right?
yes a box would be fine. no pump needed.

I have heard very rare cases of PSc being bad. I do remember one guy on pavement sucks having a problem and he lived 6-8 hours from PSC and a rep came down with a tech and they resolved the issue. But it wasn't a stock steering setup it was hydro-assist.

also the DSS steering braise is a bandaid and can cause more damage than good. if you dont believe me have some one turn the wheel back and forth and look at the binding/twisting in the brace. sorry but thats not good. thats why I took mine off (after 2 sector shaft leaks).

check this thread out. Mike (Archer) cut his DSS for the same reason I said

Which gear are you looking at? Im not seeing this info.

Im looking for a steering box now as well since it sounds like mine is ready to blow.

That is a very interesting thread. I guess his way did help things but I would also guess not enough to justify spending the money to buy one and then modify it.

I made a rule the day I adjusted my steering box. I'd do it once and if the problem came back it would get another gear. I'm going to stick to that.

They don't necessarily say that you don't need a new pump but they definitely don't say that you do. Along with that their higher volume pumps appear to be directed towards low RPM applications which I don't need as I don't wheel my truck or have big skins. Their replacement pumps don't mention anything about different valving or increased flow either. I took an educated guess.

under normal driving the DSS brace is definitely not needed. if a good steering box and steering components are installed than it defeats the purpose of the DSS
