Default 60# Valve spring ?

I inquired on taking my truck to a shop to have the pump timing turned up...
He replied that he could do it whenever and said " a set of governor springs and custom fuel plate would really wake it up"...
So I had him to quote doing all the work and the parts along with valve springs and a boost elbow...

He said that is wasn't a must for me to have the 60# springs installed with the 4k kit unless I was gonna be real hard on the truck...
I told him that all I do with it is tow a race car trailer and my driving style wouldn't change just wanna make it easier on the truck...

So what about the valve springs? Should I have them installed or trust there judgment and see how it goes?
I may just have them leave the inner springs out and use them as 3k's...
Thats all that I was wanting, but he said they stock the 4k and install them on almost all the truck's they do... (for future purposes)
Thanks in advance...

I would get 3GSK's. Why put in 4 when your never going to use it. I wouldn't put in a 4 without the springs anyways, you can't tell me it's ok to float the valves for a short period of time. You only need the 60# springs for over 3200, if you get the 4GSK I would definitely get the springs as well, you never know when you might just happen to go over 3200. If the potential is there, your going to use it one day or another and the springs will ensure that your not floating valves.

IMO, going past 3k rpm with a 12 valve isn't helping at all with towing. Peak power is going to be around 2100 rpm and it drastically drops off from there. Having it pull hard to 3k so you can get that next gear (for mine it's 3rd to 4th) is all that GSK is going to help with. Makes towing up hills easier especially if you put in a plate as well.
