we have a 94 that did the same thing and we plumbed the lift pump to the filter and it has woorked fine for 7 years in all kinds of weather. it did the same thing as yours is doing. thats just my guess.

just take the line that runs to the fuel heater and run it to the fuel filter. did the truck ever have biofuel of any kind run in it

no the line that runs from the fuel heater next to the lift pump its the only thing between the lift pump and the fuel filter.

no its never had bio fuel. from my understanding the fuel comes from the tank, into the fuel heater, than to the lift pump, and from there to the filter?

you are right that was my mistake the 94 we did that to someone had replumbed the fuel to go from the lift pump to the fuel heater instead of the way its suppost to. i had to bypass the fuel heater on my 96 today. it quit working and the fuel was wanting to try to gell up in it. thats where i figured out that lil quirk. i still think that getin the fuel heater out of the picture would be the next step. the only other thing i can come up with is that a fitting on a return line is loose or and this is a biiiig if that it has a cracked cooper washer somewhere in the fuel system and checking for that is a pain.
