Default Auto Trans Question

With the converter locked (switch locked), how much slippage is normal in the transmission. If other words, with a manual trans (provided no clutch slippage) you step on the throttle and speed increases directly with rpm. With an auto would the rpm jump ahead alittle (slippage) while speed is gained??

When a torque converter is locked you shouldnt see any slippage at all. If you do there is a problem.

you sir are correct..........amazing that an auto tranny can be just like a manual in direct

Yep, with the converter locked its a 1:1 ratio. The way my DMax shifts on the street tuning and torque converter locked acts just like a manual.

Yup, nothin but bad news when it slips in lock up. Could be weak line pressure or something like that but probably the TC is toast.
