tran swap?

tran swap?
I have a auto on my 98 12v dodge and I want to build it up so I dont blow it up with the mods I am doing to it. So my question is would it be better to rebuild it or swap it to a manual with what I can afford? I can only afford $1500 to $2000, I would install it. I want a manual but if the price and hassle would be more than its worth? Also would the auto tran be worth anything?? It has no problems YET! Thanks and sorry for all the questions!

if u want a manual..... do the swap!!! there is a bunch of guys on here that have done the swap and could help you with questions. also there is a really good write on here that i believe blackcloud did that could really help also depending on the mods you wanna do 1500 wont get you very far on a built auto

i swapped to a manual in my truck. the best thing u can do is find a donor truck so u have all the parts your gonna need, i searched around and found a 96 5 speed truck for 1000 bucks. you'll need a better clutch to hold that power. im shootin for the same hp range as u are, so i went with a south bend dual disc clutch and an upgraded input shaft. the swap itself is really easy, only took me a couple days.
plus the major bonus of findin a donor truck, now i have an extra running 12 valve that i can do whatever i want with

i forget what i paid for the clutch n input shaft, it was somewhere around 1500 i think
but if you get a donor truck, you can sell the extra parts (cab, bed, axles, motor...) to help offset the cost. find the right buyers n you can pretty much do the swap for free. i've had offers on that 12 valve that would cover the cost of the everything, but i just cant let myself get rid of it haha
n happy thanksgiving

k...ya i guess. thanks, I will try to fill it out. I am not to computer smart so I will try to find it. Also what do you think of totally removing the fuel plate or/and the afc foot? I have a 0 fuel plate and the afc arm ground back 1/3 inch and noticed a huge diffefrence once i did that!
