truck keeps losing prime! where to start?

how do i pop test them and what should they pop at?

just lettin yall know i bought a new overflow valve 24 bucks on ebay and come to find out this whole time my solenoid has just been sticking so sometime i just have to reach under the pump and give it a little help for it to open up a new one is 89 dollars should i go ahead and get it or will it be fine with me just helping it up everyonce and a while

you could do that, or just ditch the solenoid, and go out and buy a 3 or 4 ft choke cable and use the cable to shut the truck off... personally id just get the solenoid, but have always wanted to try a cable

why wont it pick itself up?? is it cause the solenoid is burnt up or can it be bad wires should i check that first?

ok first get the shut off solenoid open so you can start it if it starts easier its the solenoid if it still doesnt then I suggest looking further into the fuel issue

You can usually clean the solenoid up and adjust it. Instruction are here:

Diesel Hard Start Diagnosis

If your boot is in bad shape you can make a new one from an old bike tire and a couple of cable ties. Sorry no pics on that.


If you need a new solenoid - these guys have them for reasonable: LarryB's Dodge starting problems solved here.

yeah i just got my overflow valve from them and was about to buy their solenoid fix kit but first wanna clean it up or try some stuff before i go and spend the money...and btw my solenoid is a little beat up
