reasonable amount of labor to pay?
i dont know what i would call reasonable but i know the dealerships charge around 1000 bucks to install one for labor only and they wont even let you supply the pump either. i dont know why labor is so high though ive pulled on and off numerous times and ive had it off and back on within a half hour with my brothers help. but i would say if your payin on the side 2-300 is probably a reasonable amount
its already at a local diesel shop.
by time i buy the special tools its just a bit more money to pay to have it done.
not to mention owning my own business it doesnt make money sense to take away from making money to save a little money.
i found a cummins reman 195hp pump for $400. its critical my truck is back up asap as it pulls our eclsoed race trailer. i will send off the failed pump to have it benched/repaired and swap it in at some point.

Mitchell estimating guide calls out 4.7 hrs labor to replace pump and set timing multiply by shops labor rate and there ya go however shops that do alot may have a "flat rate" for replacement hope this help's
i did,thanks.
it was somewhat of a ordeal but turned out fine in the end. i had ulitmate do it. they werent the cheapest but came highly recommended. there end up being some craftsmanship issues that i had to fix but in the end they made it right with me. i learned yet again i should have just done it myself as usual, but i was weighing the cost of the timing kit vs labor charged and my time away form my business.
