Default 1996 dodge with factory 24 valve?

im new to this sit and was wondering, i just recently bought a 1996 2500 dodge with 5.9! my question is the date stamp on the door is 12-96 and the valve cover is 24 valve, how to determine the difference between 12 and 24 valve in more detail! any info or comments would be much appreciated, thanks!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

a 24v valve cover is one piece as the 12v has 6 different covers!!! if that helps!

there was a 24V head installed on a 12V engine?????

let me know how that works for you.....

i prefer to have the injectors spray into the piston bowl and not on the top of the piston

It works very well! not only was the head swapped, but the proper internals and modifications where made to make the swap complete including the proper pistons etc! I am having him send me the complete parts list, so that i can post and have input, comments or suggestions, for further upgrades and or mods!

thanks,
Michael

That is a great swap, the 24v head flows better then the 12v, cant go wrong there.
