Default Drive belt/Serpentine belt tensioner

How do you tell if the tensioner is wore out.Mine is moving the belt into the a/c and eating the inside 2 ribs off of the belt.

Sounds like it's time for a new one. Replace it every 100,000 miles/2500 hrs, along with a new belt, and idler pulley bearing. With the amount of hours I suspect you got on the engine, do the fan hub to.

Thanks!! I wonder why the tensioner goes out quickly on some 9th gen models but not others. Does anyone know how to replace a serpentine belt on your own?

Yes. I will provide you with clear, step by step instructions:

1. Think about changing belt.
2. Drink a beer.
3. Loosen the tensioner & pull old belt off.
4. Drink a beer.
5. Look at belt diagram on radiator support and figure out the routing.
6. Drink a beer.
7. Loosen the tensioner & put on new belt.
8. Drink a beer.

Follow my patented 8-step method.

Thanks dude. I already replace my serpentine belt. Thanks to automd.com that gave the details and instruction on replacing my serpentine. If you need one, here is a good reference on how to replace a serpentine belt.

Thank you, but I don't need the reference. As you can see, I have an 8-step method. Just face the facts: 68% of the time, my method works EVERY time!

Some said the ideal mileage was 140,000 miles somehow way too long or very unsafe, I replaced mine before in reach 120,000 miles
