Default What rear end should I look for.

What is the highest gear rear end out there for sencond gens the gears that came from the factory? alot of them have 4:10 which i hate becuz of mileage , Whats a good ring and pinion that would get me 20 + mpg?????

3:55 is whats in most trucks.

If your replacing the entire diff - if you can find a Dana 80 from a 01.5 or 02, it will have rear disk brakes.

i swapped my 2nd gen to 3.55 from 4.10. Biiiiiig difference. Also have 35in tires. I looove it but dont tow much. If i did i would keep the big tires and go back to 4.10. 1750 at 70mph on gps!!!

How hard was it to change the ring and pinon?? did you replace the whole axle or just the gears in the pumpkin, im stuck with 4:10's right now and I hate them, Im wanting to do 3:55's

i love my 4.10s ya mileage aint the greatest but it pulls alot better than my buddies truck and my egts are lower also

I like mine on the line they hook up hard and go but in my top end I slow way down cause im running out of gear , and I hate driving like 7 hours to say phoenix,az and be doing 70mph at 2700rpm

im running 37s now with 3:55s at 70 at like 1650 rpms. what do you think i will run at 70 with 410s

probably around 1800 or so I have 40''s and 3.73's and run at about 1800 at 85, it's kinda bad, i have a set of 4.56's waiting to be put in though and that should put me right at about 2000 at 75 which is the sweet spot

I swapped my rear axle completely because i had bought a wrecked truck. I swapped the ring and pinion in the front end though because the axle from the wrecked truck was bent. It was really easy but i was lucky and didnt need to shim it differently than the way it was. Def. worth it. The 4.10s were slow as hell and hated the highway...it made it faster in every way, even 0-60.
