12 valve oil pressure
When i run interstate or pull big load and come to a stop my oil pressure goes to 0 but it shoots back up after i get off idle. What could this be? Thanks. It only does it when its warmed up.:argh:

my 96 does it to, maybe it is bad oil pressure sensor
|
Mine also does it. Gets worse when it's hot outside. I figured it just might be that when it's hot out, the Amsoil I'm running in it is getting too thin for my oil pump to pick up?
|
I'd put a good mechanical gauge on it, at least for a one-time check just to confirm what's going on.
The probably clean the contacts on the sensor or replace the sensor. |
sensor or gauge is your problem i dont think it is major!:humm:

My 98 did the same thing. It was the oil sending unit. Cost about $100 at oriley auto parts.
|
Get it from Cummins, the parts store senders dont last very long.

or it could be low on oil, dont laugh i did it when i was younger, i was driving home from up north one night and when i stopped the oil pressure went to 0, it was only 2gals low, lol now i check my oil all the time

Its the oil pressure sender as already stated.
Buy it from Cummins as Doc said or you will do it again. ITs a PIA to do as its behind the P7100 and not directly accessible and you need to plan on bending like Gumby to get the job done. |
